Got to agree with sanslem. I take your point that learning new skills and doing something for yourself has an inherent satisfaction and there are skills to be learned and money to be saved on lots of gunsmithing tasks but to me recrowning isn't one of them.

Sandgroper displays some real world results that can't be argued with but you're talking about doing a fullbore rifle that's already shooting around 1MOA. The higher velocity and smaller bore/jacketed bullets you're dealing with will be much more critical of a job that isn't perfect. We've done a .22 with a hacksaw and then trued up the face and it shot great, it doesn't mean we'd do that on a fullbore. Horses for courses.
