When Tony Martin killed the intruder at his home with a shotgun was there a knee jerk reaction from the home office to ban shotguns? I dont recall there was, so........ seeing as no crime let alone a death has happened with use of a MARS or .50 rifle then how can this be even considered by the shooting bodies or the politicians?
This is being orchestrated by politicians and above because they want to not because there is a good reason to.
Remember these people work for you and your best interests (what a fookin crock that is)

Surely if we have to have good reason to posess firearms those fekkers have to have good reason to take them off us.

Yes, a sensible option. I could for example separate the upper and lower receiver of my SGC 9mm and keep them two safes and have the bolt in a third safe. Magazines in another safe and Ammo in yet another safe.... So in effect a burglar would have to break into five safes to obtain a fully functional rifle..... All well and good...... but what if the rest of my guns are stored in fully functional condition?

Marlin lever actions are easy enough to disassemble / assemble, so are both of my sect.1 Benelli's, sect 2 shotguns etc., but what about my Browning Buckmark LBP? I'd need to remove the scope and top rail and I don't think those particular guns are designed to be frequently stripped..... or what about my brand new Chiappa 1887 Sect 1, that isn't designed to come apart easily.

I think that's true of the vast majority of members of most clubs, they join to get something. The others, the ones who also believe in the broader objectives of the club and are prepared to pursue them, are a tiny minority. Expecting the NRA to be something other isn't that realistic, they need to look after their income stream first to ensure their survival. It would be more sensible to establish a shooters' campaigning group which has no other remit, the NRA et all could be sponsoring members, and perhaps provide some resources.

But I think your expectations of the NRA are largely unrealistic, it might say "promoting target shooting throughout the United Kingdom" on the website, but the reality is without the Bisley based income it would be 2 blokes bickering in a shed in Barnsley.

Indeed my excectations of the NRA and the rest of the organisations are unrealistic based on their lack of performance in protecting legal gun owners from the irrational and predatory actions of the Home Office. However their short sightedness and lack of rectitude on behalf of legal gun owners will eventually lead their own demise, much sooner that they seem to think.
