The NRA's funding base is centred around the southern metropolis area where the shooters can regularly attend Bisley, they will continue to pay so long as they get to shoot what they want at Bisley. BASCs constituency is mainly the game shooter with I suspect the majority of members being shotgunners.Gazza wrote:If BASC and the NRA are here to fight our corner then they should be aware that people will stop funding them if they dont fight it robustly and without compromise.
If the shooters stop funding them then they are out of their job and its time they knew it

The HO is chewing away at specific minority use firearms and their disciplines secure in the knowledge that there will be no real opposition as it isn't a threat to the "national" organisations core business.
The likes of me and you not renewing membership wouldn't bother them in the slightest and the Bisley shooters have a vested interest in staying as members, access to Bisley. With BASC the majority of members have a vested interest in staying with BASC which is the game shooting insurance they provide.
Very few of the members are there because they are supporting national organisations they are only members because it give them something, it is a transaction rather than supporting an institution. Generalisation I know so apologies to the few of us who do it because we feel it is important and the right thing to do.
I think that's true of the vast majority of members of most clubs, they join to get something. The others, the ones who also believe in the broader objectives of the club and are prepared to pursue them, are a tiny minority. Expecting the NRA to be something other isn't that realistic, they need to look after their income stream first to ensure their survival. It would be more sensible to establish a shooters' campaigning group which has no other remit, the NRA et all could be sponsoring members, and perhaps provide some resources.dromia wrote:The NRA's funding base is centred around the southern metropolis area where the shooters can regularly attend Bisley, they will continue to pay so long as they get to shoot what they want at Bisley.
