Remington make a .338LM - I shot one a few years ago at 600m and it was spot on.

Maybe 6.5x55 SWE or 7 x57 are all we need for 1000 mard shooting...

We don't want to dabble in the transonic regime, hence .308 is out of the reckoning...

It is easy to avoid transonic speeds with a .308 if you have a long enough barrel, however, each to their own.

How about 7mm SAUM?

Seems to perform well although I'm speaking as an observer, I've never fired one.

Are the rounds or cases available, I've never seen it listed anywhere, nor the .404 Jeffrey parent case. Reads like an interesting round though.
