I have seen an 1873 "Chapparal " for sale in 44/40 at a nice price....online reviews however are not enthusiastic. Not made by Uberti and difficult to discover who makes them....possibly Armi Sport.

Any users of this model?

Avoid it like the plague. They are definitely not Armi Sport (Chiappa). Rumour was some years ago that they were made as parts by Palmetto Arms in Italy then shipped to Germany for assembly. I have heard the woodwork described as "like an orange box". Anyone who has experience of Palmetto will tell you that their quality control was somewhat slack, and that's being kind.

Chapparal Arms were in business for a very short spell. I was offered a couple of their rifles at the first Newark show by a dealer who could not get rid of them. The price was ridiculously low but I still passed. Fit and finish was terrible. Save your money, Mike, and buy a Uberti if you want a '73.

Thanks for the advice...I will look out for a Uberti. I did have an Armi Sport 1892 in 44/40 ....should have kept it!

A and A Gunsmiths had a 44/40 when I last looked

Had a call today from my RFD to say that my Uberti 1873 Comp has finally arrived in lollol

Was ordered back in Feb/Mar, so 6 months isn't too bad considering I've heard stories of 12+ month wait for a Uberti.
