Or more to the point how many people are prepared to admit doing this? :D

Well, para 1.1 of the Firearms Security Handbook 2005 states;

"firearms and shotguns to which the certificate relates must be stored securely at all times (except in certain circumstances) so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, access to the guns by unauthorised persons."

So, on the bedroom floor, at the bottom of the bed where you are sleeping, in a locked house, how is the above not satisfied?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Loaded and sitting next to me. Definitely preventing unauthorized access!

That's exactly what I do! Coupled with the fact that my cabinets and kit are all in the loft if I was up early doors and banging about in the loft then the wife would keel haul me!

A typical start for us is out of the house around 06:00 so we get ready the night before. Rifles are bagged and ready to go along with the range bags holding ammunition on the bedroom floor, soft gear is piled up by the front door ready for the off.
