Last chance to clean it, if you enjoying the cleaning more than the shooting...bradaz11 wrote:have you seen someone on fb saying that they are going to meticulously clean their rifle and oil it before hand in? 100% serious. I don't know how someone with that large a case of Stokholm syndrome is mentally stable enough to own firearms.

Conversely, it could be argued that people who plan to paint their guns Pink are "Spitful", "Childish" and "Mentally unstable"......... FAC holders are supposed to be "law-abiding" even if those laws are ill-thought-out or seemingly unreasonable.bradaz11 wrote:have you seen someone on fb saying that they are going to meticulously clean their rifle and oil it before hand in? 100% serious. Ah, excuse me...
Maybe FAC holders are rather fed up with being seen as the easy way out for politicians desperate to show that they have some sort of answer to gun crime.
Having one's property "stolen" (and I use that in respect of every word of the lawful definition) when a single one has neither been taken nor infact used in crime by ANOTHER is just an insult and has no regard to the rights of the most law abiding in a democratic society. Even the HO acknowledge that certificate holders are not of concern.
You may recall what was said in the EU Parliament when they were looking to ban x - "Look at how angry these people are, how can we ever trust them with Firearms"!
It is not the law abiding that are being dishonest on this one... and "ill thought out" does not quite sum up matters.

I suppose one could say that about any legitimate peaceful protest. If you were that way inclined. #tastybootpolishHH1 wrote:Conversely, it could be argued that people who plan to paint their guns Pink are "Spitful", "Childish" and "Mentally unstable"......... In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Calm down prof! There is nothing illegal about having brightly-coloured firearms. Plenty do at practical and gallery matches already!HH1 wrote:Conversely, it could be argued that people who plan to paint their guns Pink are "Spitful", "Childish" and "Mentally unstable"......... Re: Paint them pink
I do admire the 'paint it pink' idea. Lets see if the pink firearms are paraded on the media on the pretext that the streets are now now safer (nasty 'black firearms' on the other hand must be dangerous according to the media). Had a number of Mars/lever release rifles been stolen and used in crime, then the confiscation would have at least been based on something, however fair or not. The fact that certain States in the USA ban firearms because of the way that they look (i.e. AR15s), just isn't logical. Government/police should concentrate on real criminals not law abiding firearms owners.
To some extent I have a similar view on the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 debacle, will it stop criminals possessing and carrying such items, I very much doubt it. By their very nature of what they are i.e. a criminal, they will ignore the law and do whatever they so choose. Although, the police may say less in circulation makes it safer for them/general public? But then, anything can and I am sure at some point has been used as a weapon in a crime, so what will the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 actually achieve? very little in my opinion. A knife is a knife irrespective of what it is named or has engraved on its blade. What's to stop a criminal just carrying a kitchen knife (nothing).

Re: Paint them pink
I always find it funny when they trot out the (true) phrase "that not all muslims are terrorists".. but then go on to blame all law abiding gun owners for the actions of someone who could well have been stiopped if the warnings had been acted on!!!!
Even so, with no warning the rush to mass punishment is an obscenity - but such is UK law and politics these days!
They bitch about mass punishment - oh we can't punish an entire community because one Merkeled some people or vapourised a pop concert - until it comes to law abidning gun owners, then they don't give a toss qabout the person reponsible and screw everyone of us time and again.
Corrupt, liars, thieves and hypocrites the lot of them!
