Oh I do SO like constructive criticism
Well I thought it was constructive even if you didn't.
Kind regards and BTW I'm sorry you've lost your job but I can't say I'm surprised.

One of the main reasons I was so strongly against the Olympic shooting events coming to Bisley.

Can you imagine the Health & Safety brigade pitching up at Bisley about 5 years ago to do their initial survey and finding out the people actually SHOOT LIVE AMMUNITION.......they would have closed the place with immediate effect, all in the interests of safety of course.

Karen, if indeed you have lost your job rather than having resigned I am very sorry to read that, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. However could it be that some of the things that the membership are unhappy about were a contributing factor to the unhappy circumstances you now find yourself in?

All this stuff about what the NRA should be/shouldn't be doing is as likely to promote shooting as a sport to Joe Public, as the video recently posted on this forum of a kid dressed up as a hoody "Cammo Action Man", plinking with a 22 semi..............

Every organisation has it's shortcomings, (ever been involved with the BSAC?), and what's really needed here is shooters on firing points, not a public slagging off.
Myself and a few colleagues regularly go to Bisley to shoot, period. In fact, we've done 18 half days so far this year.
So what if the bogs are a tad rank? Good reason not to waste too much trigger time in them............... don't like the food on offer? Bring sandwiches.........
It's a rifle range for christsake, and a very good one........

Er well thats up to the members to decide isn't it but I have heard nothing but compliments about my work and sympathy about the situation from the membership since my services were no longer required on 1 May.

As a shooter, a member and secretary of two clubs I always treated members and shooters as I would expect to be treated myself. Personally I consider myself to have been very good at what I did - if you disagree feel free to say as I can take it

I did not resign despite what anyone might hear via the rumour mill.

Quite simply I was told "Resign from General Council or you don't have a job"; I said "that's blackmail"; the person concerned said "yes!" I had had three other threats along the same lines and this was the final straw.

I refused to resign from General Council and stood up to a bully. Therefore I don't have my job anymore but I am still on General Council where I can do far more good for the membership.

Watch this space . . .

there is never a need to accept poor hygiene and standards! the portaloos are most likely on a maintained hire contract, all you have to do is check the damn things and if they need it call the hire company and get them serviced (by the same token there is no excuse for the state people leave the bogs in!) the range office has people moving around the site, there is no cost involved, just a minute of someone's time and please don't tell me they are so busy they don't have the time! no one is that busy! I probably go to Bisley 12 full days a year minimum, and I know at least one person on this forum who probably spends that much time a month there!its not just a rifle range it is the National Shooting Centre! it should be to a higher standard than most other ranges and it requires the staff and management to want to change! its not rocket science, it just takes someone to make the decision and follow it through.
