Oh we can get 100 rounds of nice Russian ammunition in its ikkle sealed packets for the same price as your 70 rounds of paw loads. Even full price, 100 rounds of 7.62x54R can be had for around £25 / 100 from many dealers. WE'll concede your paw loads may group better, Russian standard service ammo is only specified to hold 4 MoA. Bulgarian surplus will often do better, and East German always does.

The Russian surplus i use easily gots 1-1.5 MOA out of the SVDS, with the odd flyer.Would like to get hold of some 7n1 sniper ammo for it :)

Take your P14 bolt , sit a round of stalin's best on the bolt face and seeif it will fit between the lugs .A very small amount of fettling may be required .Take a photo and upload it .

It doesn't quite fit betwixt the lugs: the extractor claw fouls it...

The extractor claw unclips and slides off --- then try it , a very small amount of fettling will be needed , then when it sits square and central fettle the extractor hook so that it fits snugly up the body of the cartridge just above the rim.
The large protrusion which guides the ejector can be thinned down to fit the russki cartridge rim , it doesn't contribute the the massive strength of the action.

We spent a nice few hours today with ovenpaa, Chrystal and dromia, drinkin' tea, stroking the hounds and talking over sundry project ideas. We're considering that the project after the current one will be a 7.62x54R rifle...

If your interested I have the drawings for the Tkiv trigger & barrel sleeve/recoil lug.

I'm going be making a set for myself, if you want I'm happy to make a set for the project, just pay for the steel.
The barrel sleeve will be about £15 for the steel, I haven't got a cost for the trigger yet, but it'll not be more than the barrel sleeve.

Pm me if your interested.

Here's a 3D rendering of the barrel sleeve/recoil lug, the Finnish name on the drawings is "Petausholkki", but I can find a translation for it.
