TG, as you are not the only one I am wondering if I need to do it differently next year.
Let it run for longer? Let it run all year round?
I can't mass email as it means some people would be annoyed about receiving an email asking for donations.
Ideas would be welcome.

Hi Christel,
I'm sure I aren't the only member who felt awful that you had launched an overly polite appeal for some funding, to be largely ignored.
Surely as admin you can place a nicely worded PM in each & every inbox.
Nobody could object to that, surely?

How about a banner - top of the home page, in the same vein as wikipedia does every year?
Perhaps in that big white void underneath the "Supporting all legal firearm owners......" I'm sure there's a Web Dev lurking on here somewhere who'd even do it for ya if it's not a configurable item in the forums settings.

It doesn't need to be much, just small, innocuous, but different enough from normal page template to be noticed, maybe next to the 0 new messages.

Not at all.
I visit the forums that I have a big interest in. Usually Everything shooting, reloading, fullbore, competitive, rimfire, shooting trips and for sale.
Occassionally I venture elsewhere, but generally there's a lot of other stuff I don't have much interest in, so don't go there often.

Hi Team,
I've been getting frustrated, and slightly concerned, that my donation has left my bank, but still showing as "Pending" on Paypal
Apparently the "e-cheque" may not complete until Nov 21st!
A bit Pants!
I actually thought Paypal was almost instant.
It is on the way to you, honest!
