I suppose the point is, whilst it may have taken the police 3 days to turn up, did it deter the burglars? Also if the police knew you had firearms, would they have been there in 20 minutes well armed?

Maybe having actual SAFES (like a Fort Knox) instead of cabinets would be a step in the right direction??

The problem is - and it was mentioned a few posts back - that if anybody wants to get into your safe/cabinet/vault, they will. All we can do is try to make it difficult for them. If anybody gets through my "high security" (supposedly) front door, and gets through the deadlocked bedroom door, then breaks into one of my cabinets, then I will regard it as a PITA, but I won't feel any guilt, because as far as I'm concerned, I will have done everything that I can afford to do to make my guns safe.
The bottom line is, if they want it, they'll get it.

Oh they'll be at it WAYYYYYY much longer with a Fort Knox than a Brattonsound Box....in fact the police will arrive long before they get in

. They also have excellent fire protection. Downside Hmmmm - they literally weigh a ton..

OOOPS, mustn't give them ideas -- mum's the word.

If they know you have that and want the contents, all that will happen is that they knock the side of your house off with a stolen JCB, like they do with cash machines

Or knock on your door and rush in with a machete/illegal firearm/claw hammer/taser/18inch black mamba then threaten your wife/kids/dog/Audi RS6 with bodily harm if you don't open the safe up for them.

I'm not sure she'd feel that threatened.

Too many "what ifs" here..has it actually ever happened?? If they are minded to go to those lengths surely they'd knock over a shop or a couple of armed coppers and get what they want, not what they think you have. One thing for sure, a Fort Knox will not be uplifted eaasily if it's full of gear and bolted to the ground.
Not many of us will have firearms that are of real use to a terrorist. I am sure what they want they'll get from some scrotes in Ireland maybe - or the boat people who are no doubt landing without being noticed according to the press.
