Indeed, the cheques are cashed as a matter of procedure, more so they don't get lost than anything else. If the application was to be refused they would simply issue you with their own cheque rather than return yours.

Did your referees tell you what he asked them? Just being nosey.... O:-)

From what I gather they ask a few simple "drugs/alcohol", "stable relationship/stable emotional", "mental health/anger" and the "is there any reason why the shouldn't have"....

Likewise, a referee will not have a application prevented into becoming a grant but it may leave the enquiry officer with questions that need answering. Coupled with that, which referee said what will never be revealed to the applicant.

One of them was at work so he left a voicemail which she didn't spot till weeks later! The other one answered the phone and he simply asked if he knew who I was!!

Fair enough! None of my referees have ever been contacted so I was just wondering if they're asked anything different to the form they have to fill in :good:

They don't even do that these days. The applicant just writes the referees name and address etc on the form and thats it. The referees don't see any paperwork (well mine certainly didn't)..

I don't know if mine have ever been contacted although I feel that they have not, maybe they only do it if they have any cause for concern.

At various times I have used: The local Vicar/Minister, A headteacher, A vet who has an FAC including a pistol for humane despatch ...

Well guys, just and update, FEO came out this morning, was here about 45 minutes and checked my cabinet and went through a lot of questions.

He said what I had asked for was fine, no issues with ammo limits or anything, he said vetting had all been done and my certificates will be through in a week or two.

Really nice guy, great experience.

Good stuff :good:

Now you've got a few weeks to figure out how to get all the guns and kit into the house without your other half finding out/knowing how much they cost lol
