I know one of the forum members use paper plates as a target.

You should be able to see that at a 100.

You can probably pick them up at a service station on the way down.

Or A4 piece of paper with a black circle?

Just wondering if that will help you?

Paper plates sounds like a good plan!
especially if theres alread a target down there, - maybe the black ring behnd it with the plate tied on will be enough to see a ring toline up in the sights? (maybe not, bt could be interesting to find out!)...

I think we'd need atleast 10 targets each to be able to see the groups in the middle of the target if we're shooting 3 shot groups with each different round... (heres hoping to sub .5 MOA rounds :-p)...

so including if we want to warm up the barrel and see where they go we'd need 1 each for warm up shots on the factory ammo (and also to see how close those loads can get)...

thats alot of targets... I'm hoping we can get someone down the butts that knows whats going on for us... (if there are butts at 100yd? you don't have to wait for detail changes to be able to change targets do you? :shock:

Anyways, I've loaded 30 rounds so far, and got the other 30 cases prepped and primered, all I need to do tomorow morning is weigh the powder and seat the bullet for the last 30 and I'm ready to go!

Unless you have booked a marker you will have to score yourself.

Stapler, duct tape, drawing pins...you will need something to attach the paper plate.

I've only ever shot on the Zero range at Bisley so I have absolutely NO idea about how the ranges work!

Short Siberia 100 is under cover apart from the prone shooting. Short Siberia 200 is of course further back and to the side. You of course only walk on the side if you want to go down there or you drive, different parking area.
There is a toilet at the 100point.

I also think there is a kitchen of some sorts there, please correct me if I am wrong somebody?

SS is a great little range (you'll love it). I wouldn't call it a 'kitchen', but there is a shelter, and people often use BBQs or stoves in there....

You can walk to the butts via a path to the left - At 100 yrds you can mark your own shots...it only takes 5/10 mins to walk down, mark your target, and walk back again - so you could put 4 tagets on the board, take 3 shots on each, and then go and change them...

Don't forget to get a 'breech flag' (goes in the action to show it's open), so people can see your rifle is clear when you're not shooting it.

My digital scales - part of the haul i got from Norman Clarks when I went and grabbed everything for reloading! seems fairly accurate and always returns to Zero...

I'd have loved a bar scale but I lack the space and the funds at the moment... a future upgrade methinks!

The trickler i got thrown in as it was second hand at Norman Clarks, and the guy serving me seemed like he wanted to help me out! hence the thumbs up from over here to Norman Clarks - Very good service!

poured in from the cap first to get within a few grains then used the trickler to get the last bit in there... so tedius though, i need to streamline here... once the loads are sorted, may have to think about a powder dispenser that i can tweak to the right weight!


pour in the load using the funnel!


visually inspect each load so it looks right and not drastically low!


put into holder and place bullet in the case


start as high as the die could go and went down incrementally until i got the OAL to the size i wanted it - I borrowed a vernier caliper, but its not digital and smallest increments were 32/" so stuck with my dads old caliper and ruler as the ruler shows 100th's - so its within a 100th" out at worst - BUT they're all consistent in length :) - I have a vernier caliper on order at the mo! and may have to see if theres one I can use at bisley somewhere so i know what length these are before i shoot them!


after all the faffing about setting the bullet length and finally pressing the bullet... out it comes


checking the finished bullet length... yep, just touches both ends :)
