I thought he was arrested whilst in America on his way to the Shot Show as opposed to be extradited from the UK.
Re: AIA 7.62x39 Enfield
There were definitely UK extradition proceedings against him in late 2013/early 2013, and I remember his last-ditch defence was (implausibly) claiming to be a Freeman on the Land and thus exempt from the law because he hadn't signed a contract with the court, or something mad like that.

I think you're mixing up Gary Hyde of JAGO with Guy Savage. Gary and his German business partner Karl Kleber were arrested by the Feds while en route between their Vegas hotel and the convention centre hosting SHOT on a charge of faking the markings on and paperwork for Chinese made AK 75-round drum mags to show they were made in Bulgaria or Romania, or some such east Europe country ending in 'ia'. They were subsequently 'extradited' to Rochester NY as that's where the customer was located and the crime deemed to have been committed. Kleber pleaded guilty, Hyde not so and was eventually released to return to York (England) on probation where he was susbsequently arrested by our people and charged with illegally arranging the transfer of AK47s, pistols and rather a lot of ammo from China to Nigeria while on UK territory. (The arms never touched the UK, but they tapped his phones and email and proved he was on UK soil while he brokered the deals.) He's currently serving a 7-year sentence, but before he was tried here, he did a plea bargain with the Rochester County DA and accepted a rather large fine to shut the falsely described magazine charges down.
Some time after all this started, AFTE agents descended on the US Sabre Defence premises and seized the books, computers and almost everything else on hand. It was alleged there were two sets of accounts to defraud the IRS, crates with false bottoms being used to illegally export barrels and AR components without ITAR licences ... etc, etc. So far as I know Sabre was shut down in the US and never reopened with its local managers arrested and charged with various tax and firearms offences. Having lined their evidence ducks up, the USA formally sought Savage's extradition in connection with with illegal UK-USA arms and components shipments and that's just what happened to him. Since then I don't know.

Gaz,
Mr Savage's strange and irritating behaviour re the AIA carbine review was well before his arrest and deportation. It fitted in though with his reputation within the trade. I didn't mind his changing his mind about sending a rifle - it was just common decency to bother to tell me so. It did leave me with a couple of hundred Russian and East European 7.62X39 ball rounds that I'd bought to use in the rifle and took a small loss in getting rid of too.
