And there in lies the problem. There will always be those who won't give a rats ass what they're taking, as long as it's not theirs....
Thankfully, I emailed my club secretary and within 30 minutes it was club wide!

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: New laws coming?
I've just been reading the "Impact Assessment"................and this phrase caught my eye:
"the ownership by civilians creates a risk of these weapons getting into the hands of either criminals or terrorists."
The implication that possession by non-civilians creates no such risk raised a smile........

I read that as well and considering we are vetted left right and centre I find it questionable that there is such a high risk that it needs to be section 5...more a risk than theft from the military?Pete wrote:I've just been reading the "Impact Assessment"................and this phrase caught my eye:

Re: New laws coming?
Has somebody told Amber Rudd

Re: New laws coming?
Terrorists and criminals do not break into houses or cars if they want a gun !
They get huge choice on the black market. If such a criminal did get hold of a MARS rifle he would prob think it was broken and dump it in the river ! No terrorist is going be using a MARS rifle or lever release
Or 50 cal ! This was
One of the points i put in the consultation

Completed. Will call and write to basc today. Pointless nonsense this.
Re: New laws coming?
I've completed the online consultation and will be writing to my MP.
The rationale used to propose a ban on .50 cal and MARS is officially bullshit.
Laws should be proposed and passed where there is a genuine need and concern for public safety eg. corrosive substances. Last time I checked these rifles have NEVER been a public safety concern on the streets in my home town and, if history is anything to go by, never will.
Are there any legal professionals on here that can advise on the best way of opposing these proposals?

Re: New laws coming?
If there is a risk of theft from civilians then it will be a risk of theft of ALL firearms. Its bullsh!t all round
I wonder how many military held "weapons" have gone missing and are hushed up.

Re: New laws coming?
taken from a longer report back in 2006
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/big-rifle- ... rist-tool/
Just this past year, the Rand Corporation released a report identifying 11 potential terrorist scenarios involving Los Angeles International Airport.
In one scenario, "a sniper using a .50-caliber rifle fires at parked and taxiing aircraft." The report concludes: "We were unable to identify any truly satisfactory solutions" for such an attack.
This is exactly what the FBI learned in 1993 at Waco when Branch Davidians fired a Barrett .50-caliber sniper rifle at them.
