As soon as I can find a suitable RPA, I'll be shooting it again!
Interesting, I've shot/loaded for both .22-350 and .220 Swift in the past and had good results with both, and I've owned .243 since 1986 but I'm not a big fan to be honest. .243 was my first fullbore calibre and I bought it because that's what everyone I knew was using for both roe and reds in my neck of the woods, but I soon found I much preferred .308 Win, although I've also owned/stalked with 6.5x54mmMS and 7x64mm Brenneke.

There is a much bigger variety of non-expanding bullets for the .243 these days, and I'm planning on bringing my .243 Sauer barrel into use soon to conserve the .308 barrel for a while so I'll see how it shoots with 105gr bullets.

Some of the best target bullets developed are in .243 (6mm).
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Well then, sounds like I might have fun with them - any recommendations please?

Here's the basic plan (a photoshop cobble together not necessarily of the exact parts, e.g. this is the Remington Tac21 chassis rather than Tikka).

I may add the forthcoming AccuShot Atlas 5-H bipod when it's released - the entire chassis/stock will be Cerakoted Flat Dark Earth, I haven't finally decided what do do with the stainless Tikka T3 barrelled action, whether to Cerakote it or leave as is. The only major components missing above are the TET Spartan III suppressor and AccuShot monopod.

I'm based up north near Inverness, so Sennybridge is highly unlikely, sorry.
MDT have finally released photos of the finished skeleton stock for the Tac21 - shipping next week :shakeshout:

Nosler Comp 107gn and H4831, as long as you have a 1 in 8" twist. Sierra's 95gn MK is also brilliant with H380.

To be honest, I can't remember what the twist is it's been so long since I've used it, but I'm pretty sure it's not 1:8 - I always used 100gr Noslers in in, but never anything heavier. It's an extremely accurate barrel, but I'll have to check the twist.

I suspect it is i:10 which is a pity.

After reading advice about calibre I have started to look at the lmt 308
I know it is not a bolt gun but it has changeable barrels down to .243 via 7 the 6.5's etc
So I could play around with barrels for the 'nice' calibres
Plus it is very accurate apparently.

It is apparently an sr25 lower and monolithic upper as used by our boys as a sharpshooter but straight pull / side charging

The ss version is £3.5k standard

If the 308 ax did the same I would go for that but don't think it does

I want modularity if having only one rifle
