I suspect the government will roll out the compensation values from the pistol ban and just alter the wording and values a bit .Pinguino wrote:FULL compensation I hope! I still have my original receipt and that’s £4.5k the govt. will have to cough up to get there hands on my beloved LR. I hope the totalcost comes back to bite them in the bum. LRs weren't even on the original consultation (Just MARS).
Does anyone know (going back to the last time compensation was paid for an implemented ban) what exactly they will expect to get.? Don’t see why I should hand them a working firearm. Can I strip it down and give to them in pieces? Also my stock, hand-guard and trigger were expensive upgrade options items that I could re-use – so why hand them in ..?
And yes... I think i will spray it a god awful colour too, so they can't perade it around as a DANGEROUS BLACK ASSAULT RIFLE
Option A . A sickening low hand in offer .
Option B . List of guns and equipment values based on retail prices at a certain date . This amount will be roughly 25% off retail price for shooters and plus 25% for dealers . But dealers will have to pay VAT and tax on the compensation .
Accessories like scopes and reloading presses will probably not get compensation .
I hope every handed in rifle is sprayed a nice bright color . This might make the media think twice before publishing pictures .
Option C . Anything not covered by options A or B . These items will require a full valuation from a dealer who specialised in this type of firearm .
The people who dreampt up the last hand in are probably still in the Home Office , so they wont make the same mistakes again . You can bet the list of what you wont get paid for will be longer than the list of what you do get paid for .
As far as a gun being in working order is concerned , its probably going to be down to each police force . Last time Merseyside insisted that every gun handed in by a FAC holder be complete and in working order, even the grips had to be on the gun .
