Re: Just surrendered my 'weapons'.....
Has anyone been asked for receipts for the for anything handed in in the A18 section.I gave the feo the pages from Kranks catalogue for my dies and GM bullets which the home office team didn't get but accepted no problem when I emailed copies directly to them.Theres a guy at the club that police scotland are demanding receipts before they progress his claim.

The HO are happy to take screenshots/printouts from UK retailers as evidence of value - no receipt required. Tell your club mate to contact them for clarification, he can then pass that onto Police Scotland.mr smith wrote:Has anyone been asked for receipts for the for anything handed in in the A18 section.I gave the feo the pages from Kranks catalogue for my dies and GM bullets which the home office team didn't get but accepted no problem when I emailed copies directly to them.Theres a guy at the club that police scotland are demanding receipts before they progress his claim.

Okay thanks I think there's a certain member of police Scotland who's got a bit of bee in his bonnet about this.A.J.P. wrote:The HO are happy to take screenshots/printouts from UK retailers as evidence of value - no receipt required. The Police's role in this process is to facilitate the handover of the affected firearms and ancillary equipment - not to dictate the terms. Hopefully, something in writing from the HO will get things moving along for your club mate.mr smith wrote:Okay thanks I think there's a certain member of police Scotland who's got a bit of bee in his bonnet about this.

Unfortunately the police sometimes do need to be told to eff off! The law is the law. Force policy does not trounce legislation. The Offensive Weapons Act is primary legislation and the compensation program is a Statutory Instrument which extends to Scotland and Northern Ireland in respect of firearms only.
It’s the law and FEOs need to abide by it.

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

it's always great saying that - and I know you don't say it lightlySim G wrote:Unfortunately the police sometimes do need to be told to eff off! The law is the law. BUT, its sometimes easier said than done for some people, myself included. I had a hard time getting the guy I was dealing with to accept my paperwork (not as hard as the desk officer accepting that I own said Knife) but he just sort of sighed and took it in the end, but I can only say that the HO say a screenshot is fine so many times, and him request a receipt. If he flat out refuses to take it, where can I realistically go with that? I don't think it helps to alienate said person, especially when they have swing over your suitability to hold firearms etc.
it's not like a guy on a customer service till at a shop is it? can't just demand a return etc, and then call for a manager?
it's very much a softly softly approach - and that in itself is the problem with our model of firearms licensing.

My claim sat on a desk for nearly two weeks without contact from police scotland and would probably still be there if I hadn't contacted the home office directly. Even when they send it to the home office they didn't include the pages from Kranks catalogue I provided as proof of current value for my dies and GM bullets,I had to send them myself which the home office accepted no problem.

Just had a message from my club mate all sorted now, the home office accepted screen shots for his stuff.A.J.P. wrote:The Police's role in this process is to facilitate the handover of the affected firearms and ancillary equipment - not to dictate the terms. Was going to say, I have an email from the HO confirming receipts not required I could have passed on. In fairness the OWA emails are being responded to very quickly, some within a few hours

There were three of us in the club with lever release guns, dealing with the Home office team excellent obviously wanting a smooth hand in.It was a certain member of police Scotland that was the obstacle, two weeks they sat on my claim didn't even bother to get in touch to ask for receipts, I had given them proof of value that wasn't passed on to the Home office when they finally passed my claim on after the Home office asking for it.Blackstuff wrote:Was going to say, I have an email from the HO confirming receipts not required I could have passed on.
