It doesn't matter what anyone owns, we should all be worried. Don't set yourself apart as you own one, any FAC/SGC holder should be concerned the more stuff they tell us we can't have, 'for the public good'

that would be an Imitation firearm (IF), not a realistic imitation firearm (RIF). Anyone can buy an IF, but it is against the law for anyone to buy a RIF - BUT certain people may have a reason for an exception to prosecution.

But it isn't illegal to posses either IF or RIF

We're all in this together. I'm worried about the antique gun owners and anyone that might own an imitation deemed "easily" convertible due to "changes" in technology. I believe you own a 9mm lever release so you are in the same boat as me. The bits that got me are where they gave more praise to the Aussie system than the Canadian one, despite it being pretty clear the Aussie one is mess and does nothing for the safety of Aussies. I'd live in Canada over Aus any day of the week. I'm also worried about Scottish gunowners too with the Police Scotland/SNP regime. I debated whether I should keep my MARS, but I should hang on to the bitter end as that's what they a holes would want. Thanks for the encouragement again.

I’d like to see a similar document produced by the NRA/BASC etc in response to the law commission. In fact it could be produced by anyone/organisation, but with the acceptance of all shooting bodies.

It should respond to each of the questions raised by the law commission. It should detail a logical, sensible, fair and affordable way forward for legal firearm ownership. With clear facts and figures, honestly presented. This can then be presented to every MP, police force other relevant parties for scrutiny.

I feel if the shooting community can present something that offers the police with a system that is affordable without compromising on safety then at least we could be driving the discussion instead of being dragged along and just having to settle for what ever the outcomes maybe.

no, you'd end up with military firearm and non military firearm by the above logic. But RIF/IF came about in the VCRA to try to stop poor folks in the local betting shop getting robbed with an airsoft gun, as it is an offense to turn your IF into a RIF, unless you are immune from prosecution (by being an airsofter, re-enacter or a prop company etc.)
yet you still see shops selling toy guns (ones that make noises rather than fire anything) that are still technically RIF's.
they would have done better to just class 6mm as an airgun caliber, but then you end up with insurance issues as you would then be propsoing that ppl go and shoot each other with airguns...
anyway... I dont think the whole military catogorisation is likely to appear as that would have to include things like SMLE's, mosin nagants et all. they just have their noses out of joint as they probably helped write the legislation when banning semis and thought they had it all covered, then a few ppl make a work around and appear with the very rifles they wanted rid of.... even though they are not semi auto.

Its like telling a child that they can not have ice cream from the freezer, and they appear eating frozen yogurt.... looks a lot like ice cream, tastes like ice cream, but it isn't ice cream, so they didn't disobey you. but the person eating it knows it isn't ice cream and wishes it was.

Good point, so do you reckon people like me should keep a hold of what we've got or make plans to dispose of them Brad? I'm just p*** at having done everything right and then seen this. I might be overreacting but I don't take well to being screwed with. Or do you reckon holding onto it a) p*** them off even more and b) doing that plays into their hands?
