I ask as I understood when all this began that they would not, as you could buy a straight pull version of the rifle. However I have since seen that it appears Caledonian Classic Arms is no longer trading (no website, no posts on facebook since 2017?) so they are no longer available. To my mind, that means they are now useless as no other rifle that will take them is commercially available?
The Devil will be in the details! I only have 2 VZ58 mags, all the rest are AR15's so i know i'll get nothing for those. They might turn around and say there's still some out there so crack on and sell them, or they may be reasonable...... lol

The chances of the plod accepting your rifle & magazines knowing the difference between a VZ58 & an RG or any other make of mag are probably less than nil! Does said mag fit & function in your VZ58 rifle?? Yes, it's a VZ mag then!

The lastest that I have read is that the Home Office will be offering the following values in compensation:

£1950 for the mars.
£2240 for the 9mm
£4445 for the 223

The start date is from 10 December 2020, this Thursday onwards.

If these prices are true, then I'd be happy with that.

Basically, it looks as though they want to get this hand-in done without any delay caused by appeals on values etc.

Latest pictures from the Facebook page-these have been posted to owners by Essex police

Quite a lot of accessories on the list but apparently this is the full list so no compensation for ammo components or reloading kit which will hopefully change.

My question would be are the ancillaries eg safety selector, pistol grip etc included in the price of the rifle or would you be able to claim them as extras?

To be fair based on what i have seen there is some disparity between forces as to how this is being dealt with and who is receiving letters/phonecalls.

My worry is that many owners may still not even know the OWB happened and banned their rifles-so if the police don't contact them then they may miss the compensation period and worse be running afoul of the law.

I swear that pre pandemic every time i went to the range and mentioned the ban most people never knew it happened.

I had the same thought-i suppose it would probably be down to the person reviewing each claim.

The list says optical rifle scope standard value £160,I have an old nikko stirling mount master I'd happily swap for that.

From the look of the photos above I don't even think they're bothered either way! :good:

If they weren't post rifle purchase upgrades (and therefore you couldn't put the standard stuff back in and claim for the upgraded parts separately) then i'd presume you'd need to provide evidence of them with the claim.
