Don't give up the fight guys, had a conversation today that was very positive. I can't say more at this point so please don't ask but hopefully will be able to clarify soon. :good:

Is there a standard letter that everyone has sent to their MP or one i can have a look at and write my own. I want to come across as a reasonably sensible writer and state some decent facts etc.

Best thing to do (IMHO), is to look through this thread and the 'New laws coming' thread and get the link to the UK Parliament website, where you get up to speed on the current state of play and all the points from the government side.
There's no set letter, though some letters that forum members have posted in these threads, have some very good points to counter the government's argument.

Unfourtunately, its a case of having to trawl through the treads and make sure you add your points should you feel them valid.
I also contacted my MP and requested a meeting. An email can simply delated but a face to face they can't ignor you. Just be logical and present the facts.

And try to keep things fairly simple - like the intended recipient.
If they see a wall of text punctuated by things you'd like to get off your chest they'll skim read it if you're lucky.
just the facts.
Most of my dealings with MPs over the years give the distinct feeling that they've not read my letters and I'm just getting the accepted response back. Either that or their reading comprehension skills really are that bad.
Dealing with stupid people is incredibly tiring - be aware of that too.

Do most letters actually get read by MP's or is it?

(MP) "Just give them the standard reply letter".

I’ve now had 2 non commital replies from my MP. Emailed again this time asking if he’ll do his job & represent me in Parliament.

I can now confirm the NRA asked SGC for a loan .223 lever release to show the Commons & Lords shooting team.

They all had a go shooting it at a McQueens target yesterday & apparently enjoyed it & obviously now have a greater understanding of the rifle & it's action.

The NRA are being very proactive.

Do you know if anyone from the NRA will be able to get in front of the committee?

They're lumped together in the Bill and if anything the lever release is the more 'clunky' to operate, so I think that was a good choice.
