Re: 50 cal ban dropped?
I was asked the other day by our local club owner how long I thought shooting would go on.
My answer was...game shooting will probably last forever one way or another, if there is such a thing as forever.
Target shooting is a different matter and I give it 50-100 years, that is being optimistic.
Around 100 years ago our village had a local shooting club. It was a big thing for all here.
With time people moved away, the landowners became less rich, manors were sold to ordinary people, youngsters lost interest, technology came about etc.
Looking at the generations after me, there is not much interest in shooting as a hobby anymore, the snowflake and corbynista generations have been brainwashed to think it is a bad thing to shoot a gun.
Same goes for journalism, as long as the spell checker on the smart phone works then one can be a journalist.

Perfect.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I don't think a functioning spell checker is a prerequisite these days.christel wrote:Same goes for journalism, as long as the spell checker on the smart phone works then one can be a journalist.
So long as one has an ego and believe it should be shared one can become a gurnalist (that's not a typo).

I’m a snowflake Labour Party member and I’m doing everything I can to convince my fellow snowflakes that shooting is awesome.christel wrote:I was asked the other day by our local club owner how long I thought shooting would go on.

I apologise for the rest of the snowflakes, they’re just afraid of a good solid hobby.

safetyfirst,
Do not apologise on their behalf, they just do not know any better.

I’ll keep getting them to friends and family days. There’s a possibility I might be starting a club too in which case that’s another 12 f&f days a year!

I admire your positive attitude. Me, long since given up getting through to them.safetyfirst wrote:I’ll keep getting them to friends and family days. There’s a possibility I might be starting a club too in which case that’s another 12 f&f days a year!
Some of the things I have heard them say...right next to me...they must be from a different planet.

I’ll keep going until the very last legally fired round hits the target, if our sport in under threat, all the more reason to go shooting more and take your friends!

You're way more optimistic than I am then.christel wrote: Target shooting is a different matter and I give it 50-100 years, that is being optimistic.
I reckon anything between 10-50 years depending on what idiots the great unwashed vote for in the coming years.

Then it’s our job to teach the 20-40 year olds how much fun and how safe it is, it’s those people that’ll be running the show in 10-50 years time!
