I paid my fees as a Chartered Engineer for 52 years. I have been retired for 18 years and have recently decided not to renew. While there is a "retired" status, there is no retired list and no reduction in fees.

RT was not allowed to observe .
That doesn't surprise me. There could be sensitive information in the police records that he doesn't have access to...
The police list of so called members was nothing more than a printout of names and address and a date .

As these people were supposed to be members of APC there would be nothing "sensitive" about it that RT should not be allowed to see.

It looks as though the Aintree Pistol Club website has been taken down  Not sure if it is just for "maintenance" or a more serious omen.

It comes up as password protected when I go on there. I wonder if it has been done that way to stop Joe public (me...) from accessing it and is still available for members of the club?

I've been a member for 15 years and Roger has never given details of a "members area" on any website. If anything Roger is anti-social media, especially when it comes to talking about shooting sports and what we may or may not own.

I spoke to my FEO this morning (as I'm waiting for my renewed certificates to arrive). She said that they had already had quite a number of very concerned Aintree Pistol Club members phoning in. If my certs haven't been printed out already, they will switch me over to one of my other clubs as the "named club" on my certificate.

The whole situation is rather worrying.

Quote from the Home Office letter

“I understand that the police discussed a suitable signing-in sheet format with you” .

It appears that this is correct . The FEO told RT that she wanted a box in the signing-in register for members
to sign out .

The current format of the signing-in register complies fully with the Home Office requirements. In fact it has more detail than is required.

The FEO is also supposed to have told RT that she would email RT a copy of the sort of signing-in register that she wanted . It has still not arrived !.

There are two sections in Rogers register. One for "Contract holders" and another larger area for regular club members.

"the club will maintain a register of the attendance of all members together with details for each visit of the firearms which they used (see note 6)" & note 6 says the firearm details at apply to members FAC firearms not clubs & that the club is responsible to record visitors & keep it for 6 years.

So what a load of tosh from the FEO! there is no requirement in the HO clubs law for this. The requirement F note 6 requires only: name, date & firearm used. Our register & the NRA does not have any signature, nor times, nor logging out & is completely acceptable. We record name, date practice or event & firearms used by a code that code (A,B,C,D...Z!) is a list of members guns & Sn's, Cal vs code.

We only sign in & out as a club to take responsibility for use of the range.

Clubs should not agree to do substantially more than the law requires as that creates precedence that can be used against clubs we should only comply with what is required bylaw.

From the correspondence it does not look like this club involved its NGO legal rep in this? if so thats a BIG mistake & it should do that now.

We don't have signatures either. A member of staff takes everyones names as they arrive and adds them to the evenings register. That includes name, date and what money has been taken for what (range fees, rifle hire, ammo etc). Then at the end of the night, Non-FAC holders have to sign the register to confirm they have left their ammo in the lock box. Simples.
