Mik at Dolphin gun had a couple of refinished Swings or similar forsale a bit ago. i think they were rebarreled and came with one of his bipods. iirc £1600 ish

Might be worth dropping him a line

Barrel is a good length as well, now you need to speak to them and find out what condition the bore is in.
Yeah I thought I could see two holes in to top!

The fella has only put about 100 rounds through it in two years! He bought it as it looks now and doesn't know how many had gone through before. He said that its still very accurate and the bore was good! I'm looking at it in two weeks but how can I tell if the barrel is at the end of its life? If it is I don't really want to be spending out straight away, I may as well buy a young Remy 700 with bipod and rail for £899...

If you are going to take the rifle into Fultons get them themto give you a full quote for fitting and proving a barrel. When you have a price, contact John Knight
in Bisley Village and get a quote from him. The reason I say this is that John does all of Fultons Target Rifle and match rfile rebarreling. He will probably save you quite a bit. John also does 20moa rails for swings/paramounts. He is my gunsmith and the work and reputation are superb. John has a website http://www.stickledown.co.uk

Hi all

The Swing was going to be to long for my cabinet so was a no go! Never mind so sticking with our first thought which is still the Remy 700 Police.

Going to look at one next saturday with standard stock. Also going to make arrangements to look at another which is a bit more and with a AICS stock fitted.

Does the AI stock make such a big difference over the the standard? I was also looking to buy a Harris Bipod but was a little unsure on which height size to go with?

Cheers

Yeh the AICS will make a difference, but make sure you can comfortably get your finger onto the trigger blade as this can be an issue for some (I'm one).. due to the thumbhole grip design being small, the new AX system is much better but cost more money.

As for a Harris, 6-9 swivel with notched legs :good:

Thanks fella

It sounds like the AICS stock might be a problem for me and my dad as we have hands like spade's and fingers like sausages!! The thumbhole sounds a little small then? It might have to be the standard stock until we can afford to buy new..
Thanks for info on the Harris, someone told me to get the notched legs to stop it slipping.

Get the basic rifle and then look around at options, numerous people make after market stocks for the 700!!

that's their appeal

I agree Alan

I think that's the best thing to do and when we've tried a season with it I'll see how it goes!

How do all

Had to work this weekend so didn't get to check out the Remy 700 Police so it's going to be next weekend if I can get stuff sorted!
Just another quick one. How does the Steyr SSG69 P11 compare with the Remington as I've seen a couple for sale. Would they still push out to 1000 yards and do it well? Is it a better action? I don't know much about them at all!
My hearts still set on the 700 but it's good to find out as much I can before splashing the cash!!
