Christel had a long chat with Lean who was running the Bold Action stand, it was right next to Brian Fox and he will be at the Phoenix meeting later this year.

Last I heard they had agreed to make contact to discuss things after the show, maybe she can update us on this.

It does say in the owners manual that the gun is for FMJ only so you wouldn't expect lead bullets to work well

FMJ is the way to go with 9MM not just in the LRR. I shot practical pistol lots and lots of 9MM every week and lead was to be avoided. Lead was fine in 45 acp & 38 spec as velocity was lower but faster rounds always prefered FMJ.

I was never a fan of the 9mm but I shot lead almost exclusively in my Brownings, Lugers and Walthers with nary a problem.

I had no problems with it in my Beretta 92, looks like I'll have to "bite the bullet" and pay a bit extra for plated or jacketed smile2

I'll see if Dodgyrog can melt them down and make them into some .44s

Hi-Power and CZ75 loved lead! Glock and HK P9S didn't, probably because of polygon rifling. HK P7 loved to shoot them, but lead deposits in the gas chamber would cause untold problems.

.38, .357, .44 and .45 all got lead treatment.....

Something was niggling away at the back of my mind for the last week or so, having looked through posts on the other thread I've found what it is.

In the previous post I'd shot 90rnds of copper plated and 10rnds of the lead, the lead grouped at about 1" not the 6"+ I got this time so it looks like the lead don't like the increased crimp pressure. I'll load another 20 and back the crimp out 1/2 turn and see if it makes a difference.

Does ypur gun have a flash hider?
Mine does and when I shoot lead bullets I have to remove it, it gets leaded up and destroys accuracy.

Its fine with FMJ though.

No, but ... the end of the barrel is weird, the barrel crown is about 1" down inside it so it has a sort of flash hider but there's no sign of anyleading on it.

Took it to my RFD/Gunsmith yesterday to see about getting it re-threaded to something sensible, took one look at the non-standard barrel nut and said he wouldn't do it, too much chance of damaging the gun trying to get it off. Seems everything about this gun is non-standard :cool2:
