We have just been informed by our MP* that..

"I have looked into the crime statistics for this, and apart from an incident when one of these firearms was stolen, there have been no recorded incidents of these firearms being used in criminal activity. However, the Home Office’s justification for this proposal is not a reactionary one, but is preventative. The Home Office believes that if these were used in an attack, the penetration of these firearms would pose a significant risk to the police officers, as they can penetrate through armour. I believe that the government are right on this instance, in that there are not enough people that use these for sport ( though I don’t doubt they may be enjoyable to those who do) to justify the significant risk that this poses"

So, presumably, we all need to apply for a.50 cal and MARS type rifle and the problem will go away.

I'd sooner have mine converted to a straight pull. At least it would have some value and not get put in the crusher when I pack in.

I'm not a gun plumber, just somone who thinks of their firearms as having residual value once i have finished with them. Hopefully the consultation will go away and I can keep my lever release the way it is. any????

Couple of other things as I've only just started to comment on this thread, doesnt the bill also bring the firearms guidance into legal standing. Does that mean that they can can change the law just by updating the guidance doc? That doesnt bode well.

I also particularly enjoyed the NRA response which lumped HMS Belfasts 4" guns into the materiel destruction category along with the 50 cals. lol
