Here's a 1,000 yard target as taken by the Chinese webcam with my telescope (27x mag). If there had been any orange spotting disks on it I think they would be easily visible.

The Bresser camera was disappointing as it seems to struggle with large areas of white and needed a lot of fiddling in the app to get a decent picture.

So save your money and stick with Alan's original idea

For those of you who have a pathological hatred of Google (i.e. dromia :) ), have you considered a Windows tablet?

There are plenty of Linx 7 tablets for sale on eBay at fairly low prices, and I can confirm that this free Windows software works well with the Chinese webcam:

Bugger... I tried using that webcam with my Win 10 Linx tablet but couldn't find any suitable software to make it work, so I've got a cheapo 7'' Android tablet arriving in the next day or so as i know that "USB Camera" software works... (I tried in on my Android phone..)

(This is for a camera set-up on my reloading scales...)

Now theres the rub... it didn't..!!

After waiting nearly 2 weeks for it to arrive, probably from China, I installed the same app that works on my phone, plugged the camera in and... nothing...

It detects that the camera is there, but doesn't display anything. I tried maybe half dozen apps, all of them the same, none worked.

In the end I downloaded Sharpcap onto my Win 10 tablet, and that works....

Exactly the same as my experience, evidently a lot of these devices don't have enough power to run the cameras without an external power source which defeats the portability objective of this. That is why I was asking to try and get a list of cheap tablets that would run the cameras but from the limited input we have had here there doesn't seem to be any, maybe the lack of power is a feature of them being cheap.

Would a USB powerbank not work for this? They can generally output at 5V and 3A or more. While this is adding yet more to the system, they are small and portable (and can charge your phone at the same time!). They are also not particularly expensive (~£20 for a nice one).

I'm not sure that would work... the tablet was plugged in and charging while i was trying the camera, so it should have had enough power..

...And it works on my Android phone, which possibly has less power than the tablet...

It may be the Operating System... this tablet runs on Android 4.4 "Kitkat" which is an oldish OS... one with an newer OS may work..
My phone is Android 8...
