Personally Fred I think there needs to be P45s across the lot at the highest level.

I am pretty sure that the vast majority of the staff try and do their very best at their work but are let down by the perennial weaknesses at the council, trustee and CEO levels.

They need to be honest about what they can achieve and to be honest for them to become a truly representative body serving the nation's legal gun owners and shooters then the next biggest drawback after the top "leadership", is the charitable status which seems to preclude them from doing that which they claim they do.

I have never understood why there has been so much negativity on here when we voiced our opinion re the NRA and the management.

What we post is not bullshit nor anti NRA - it is just the way we see it after years of trying to relate/deal with the NRA.

As I mentioned earlier, a good chat would be beneficial for all.

Also the NRA ought to take on board what we are saying. I get that money is important to improve facilities, at what cost though?

I am very disappointed with the top management, no matter how I go about it I am fairly certain I can't change that.

I would like to hire the buffalo target for members even 1100, 1200yds but cant because a private Co, that makes a good profit had a lease that prevented a members organisation from fully utilising their own ranges? They wont win their case NRA hasn't lost one. It won the artists case just the compensation & lease was calibrated by the court.

For all the bullshit espoused on here about not being the 'National' Rifle Assoc its the nearest thing we have & its best to build on it, not damage it.

I think you are being unrealistic, its not BSG that is preventing the use of various ranges , its the geography of the safety areas, if the NRA took control back and had the choice of making a couple of grand from pay and play clays combined with lessons etc and having a few people shooting on Century, I am pretty certain you would be in the rain again! as to 1100 and 1200, surely its the fact that it effectively closes off half or all of Stickledown thats the issue ?

I maybe being a bit thick here.....but as someone that uses the Long Sib clay facilities a lot in the afternoon after a morning club shoot on the ranges, how do even the back section of Long Sib (I assume this is the Cottesloe Heath bit referred to?) that is certainly not always open, be in the danger zone for the left side of century or any part of Stick. Looking on Google earth it seems to far over?
Or is this Cottesloe Heath bit another part they have access to for shotty stuff that is seperate to Long Sib?

As someone who has been tried to get meaningfully involved for over thirty years Fred I am sorry but that recommendation wears a bit thin in practice.

The issue of lack of transparency, lack of allowing member engagement and listening to members views along with disciplinary tactics to silence any dissent have been raised as issues by the Charity commissioners, so no wonder people give up on trying to engage with the organisation. It has serious institutional problems which need addressing if being an active member is going to mean anything.

As to the NRA being run by shooters for shooters, the reality is that it is run by Bisley shooters for Bisley shooters not for non Bisley members, that is fact.

Also they don't seem to be doing much of job of that either if the charity commissioners damning report is anything to go by.

The membership of the NRA consists of very roughly 10,000 individual members and speaks for about 40 - 50,000 members of associated clubs. The affiliated clubs provide a not insignificant income to the NRA via affiliation and capitation fees. If the national organisation is truly democratic and representative I'm just wondering why don't the clubs don't have some input into the national association and limited voting rights in meetings?
After all the National Pistol Association used to allow affiliated clubs representation in the form of a limited number of votes depending on club size (up to a maximum of 5 votes). I'm just wondering why the NRA have never introduced something similar.

Aah...........well, after all these years going to Bisley I never realised that piece of ground was used for anything, let alone clay busting.

I thought the only shotty stuff outside of Long Sib was the stuff under the white tent things, i.e area 3 on that map.

I was a founder member of the NPA, but I can't see the relevance of the above post. What good would 5 votes per club do?
What we need is every shooter a member and every member making his views clear.
Whenever I here somebody bitching about the NRA, my first question is: "Are you a member?". If not, you might as well be complaining about the Chinese government---you can't influence them either!---but you can actually join the NRA and take part.
