After finally being visited by my FEO I have put a deposit down on a .308 CZ 550 as my firstborn. So im shopping for the other bits and bobs at the mo and i have to ask the question;

Is a Harris bipod really worth twice as much as a Harris copy?

What opinions do people have?

Generally, whatever the tabloids tell them they should have...

A Harris clone is good enough to start with if you do not feel like spending the money on the Harris, they work perfectly well as do the Versa Pod clones, in fact I have both here and there is very little difference between the originals and the clones.

Nope also don't be swayed with the harris brand. There are equally as goodor better bipods available.

If seeking a decent Harris clone, buy a tilting stoney creek one from optics warehouse.

I've had an original Harris for a while now, but I just ordered a clone for the new rifle. My mate's got one and he seems to get on fine with it, so I thought it was worth a punt at less than half the price of an original.

I went for a GunTuff one from J S Ramsbottom.

I have a snipersystems bipod on the boys .223 it is very good, IMO as good as the Harris, a lot cheaper and it comes with a podlock as standard.
The one I personally would stear clear of is the Edgar brothers copy, we had it on a .22 semi the legs bent at the pivot on the first outing and it was £50, the same price I paid for the Snipersystems.
i have always been a fan of the Versapod same design as the Bren and the Parker Hale / AI.
Im using an atlas now on my AW, I love it but £££ ouch.

+1 for the Sniper systems bipods, I have one on my .308 and it stands up to recoil from that ok. The same can't be said for an el cheapo JSR bipod I tried on it briefly.
