I was thinking about this last night...

We have a few cameras here including some Medium Format with numerous different filters for varying light conditions, some are quite specialised such as IR however we have the normal skylight, polarising and yellow filters as well. Has anyone tried with such filters in 'scopes? I shoot with yellow glasses in some light conditions and do wonder what would happen if I used a similar filter on the objective, same goes for skylight filters to remove haze.

Just a thought..

I cannot find a filter with a thread to fit any of my scopes, each scope appears to have a different thread and none match any of my filters.

If you could find the thread size, it is possible to get an adapter made up that will allow you to mount a camera filter - One adapter per scope and just use the filters you want.

Or look at the various filter ranges as some do go right down to 20 mm - I have 24 mm on the rear of my 400-600 ...

I brought a scope that came with two yellow lens caps-think they were Bushwacker(?) but sold them with the scope. It worked really quite well in bright conditions but when not being used it just got in the way! Here they are in-situ.
It did get a bit dark with both lens caps down thou!

The scope on my 22lr has filtered lens caps which i guess sound like a good idea-except its the rifle i use for lamping rabbits so not much good at night. :lol:

Why not try glueing Quality Street wrappers to your eye ball for the tinted effect?

I have fitted UV filters to my scopes in the past, mainly to protect the lenses, however in theory they should allow better clarity ?

Leupold do the filters to match your objective size, I have a set and they do make a difference.
