At last, my FAC is done, due to Durham b@ggering about over solid slug conditions it's taken over 10 weeks for a simple change of address and a couple of variations.

Had a chat with the firearms manager on Friday which raised a couple of possible problems.

#1, 300aac/BLK isn't on the "N something or other" list only 300Whisper, wouldn't put it on as a "30"cal" so she's put it on as "300 cal"

#2. Wouldn't leave the action type blank (some forces do) so I had the choice of single shot break barrel (Thompson Encore or Handi Rifle) and couldn't put "straight pull" so she's put "bolt action" which she reckons is what a straight pull is just without the "dog leg twist".

Will either of the above stop a straight pull in 300 BLK being acceptable?, in theory with what she's putting on I could go out and buy a 300 Rem Ultra Mag instead!!!.

In all honesty, Jeff, I reckon you'd be better served with a .300 RUM than a .300 BLK.....!!

So why wouldn't she just put .300 Rifle? This is why the waters get muddied so often and Spanish Practice becomes "best practice."

I have noticed before that a straight pull is a bolt action rifle as far as the Police computer is concerned.

Both of my S/P's are listed as bolt action

Just have to have a good read of it to make sure she's put on the rest of the stuff I asked for this time smile2

I had a slot which just said .30 cal rifle, it could have covered a multitude of calibres, no arguments at all with feo

Good news, I got my FAC back

Bad news, I had to sit and wait while they re-printed it

Good job I checked it, my S&W M&P15-22 had mysteriously changed from a semi-auto to a bolt action and apparently I'm the Chief Constable as that's who's signature was in the box where I'm supposed to sign it!

Also had a peruse of the leaflets while I waited, in with the FAC application is a sheet for land clearance requests and another advising all applications will be at least 90 days!

So it takes them 10 weeks to completely screw your FAC up...

There's no hope.

I hate to think how long it's going to take mine to come back for some variations. As I'm not in a rush, I'm not going to chase them like I normally have to. I'm going to lay low and just see what happens. 5 weeks of silence so far.
