Anybody have experience of Armalons pistol calibre rifles?

I am considering a 9mm as soon as the variation comes through.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

We like the look of them, and anything from Mr Sarony is almost certain to be good...

I have spent the afternoon with one and had a really good time with it. Hardly any recoil and fed the ammunition smoothly. Had they been £1000 cheaper I would certainly have had one.
You have to pay attention to what you want this gun for. It is not fast enough to use in most of the gallery rifle comps, so it is just a plinking rifle or for small game (?). Personally I feel they are too expensive for just a plinking gun, no matter how nice they are.

How would it be too slow for gallery as that was what I thought of using it for?

It is magazine fed and I am assuming it would be pulling back the bolt eject and push forward load?

I shoot Hendon Winter and Summer postal and a local comp, although Bisley beckons.

It's a Lee Enfield: tell Sgt Mjr Snoxall it's too slow...

I expect someone could take one in to a gallery rifle comp, and if you practised with it you could get all the rounds off, but I doubt that you will ever compete with the Marlins in a game where 1 point is the difference between winning and not.

I don't want to be rude or sound patronising but there is a reason why everyone uses Marlin under levers in these comps. If there was something that worked better, everyone would bee using those instead. If something worked equally as well, then you might see some on the firing line, but even at todays prices, a new Marlin is still a lot cheaper than an Armalon.

Perhaps you shoot gallery comps that are not timed? If so then these could be a fun way forward.

None of the Gallery comps l do are timed other than one and that would leaves plenty of time for a bolt action.

l have used a Marlin up to now and I am swapping out a 44 on ticket for a 9mm as l did not want another lever action.

Out of interest can you explain the gallery comp you do?

The gallery rifle comps that I take part in are the Gallery Rifle Action Weekends held 5 times a year at Bisley - one a season and then a national comp.

Afraid I can not start to give a course of fire as there are so many, but accuracy and speed are the name of the game. The top shooters really are maxing out the X ring consistently (thats not me).

The Armalon handles and shoots lovely, if time is not an issue give it a go, I am sure you will be the envy of many.

Shot one in .30 Carbine, loved it, accurate and the action was nice and smooth. Have also met Mr. Sarony and the other chap who works with him in their bunker in Oxfordshire. Great guys, all well made kit.
