Rifle Case - advice please.

I am looking into buying a good quality hard rifle case to fit my Barnard which has a 30" barrel.

The Peli 1750 seems to be the benchmark but does anyone have experience of a Sealey case?

Any advice would be very welcome.

Thanks

I have a "Doskosport AW Double Scoped Rifle Case", which cost £140 a couple of years ago. It survived air transport, plus bouncing around in a truck on Indian roads, with 2 rifles inside (30" barrels). If I had the money for Peli I'd buy one though.

I had a Peli 1750 for my smallbore and it survived a few airline trips and countless trips to various ranges across the
country, they're not cheap but are virtually indestructable.

Saw an interesting article on Guns.com about being able to design custom foam inserts for hard cases at MyCaseBuilder.com

Don't know if they ship to the UK though. Foam, probably subject to ITAR. Don't want terrorists getting hold of foam!

I have the Pelican Storm IM3300. It is terrific but is bloody heavy at c20lbs without rifle and ammo. It is very good for flights but it won't fit in most car boots unless you have an estate or fold down the back seats.

Thanks folks.

One option is to break down the action and stock and go for a smaller Peli rather than pack the completed rifle.

I have been researching the Sealey case and they are as heavy as the Peli but would be keen to hear if anyone had views on them.

Thanks again.

Check out the rifle cases that HPS sell (Flambeau ?). Cheaper than a Peli, mine has survived 10+ trips overseas with two rifles in and so far the airlines have not been able to break it or the contents.

Speak nicely to Samsonite. Saw a very neat Samsonite case for an AI with folding stock. Maybe a custom job.

I used a Plano Airglide top opening box for my AE, held it very snugly.

e.g. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Plano-Airglid ... e/10774198 You can get them in the UK.

Pelicans are good but heavy - and if they keep water out then make sure no water is IN it before you seal it.
