Hello,

I just bought one of these little fellas and it will be with me in a week... :shakeshout:

Now I need to talk about bipods. I like the look of the dual Vltor monpods, the Harris bipods and also the Tangodown bipods, but I don't know how good they are.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Cheers,

Craig.

I like the Harris for such applications, we have amassed a few over the years and they always work reasonably well, only down side is they tend to hop but then all bipods of a similar construction and footprint will do this.

Thanks. So don't you bother with bipods normally because they hop? Do mean when you push forward on them?

You can buy another one to put on top...

Seems a shame to have a bipod without a rifle!

Is this what's filling your .308 / 7.62 slot then or did you do a variation to get 7.62 russian as well?

Yep that's my second 7,62/.308 slot filled now, this and the FAL are both x51 NATO so no variation needed.

I use bipods including the Harris all of the time and even loading them up slightly (Leaning into them) does not totally stop hop which is where the torque effect of the bullet causes the rifle to hop to one side. This is going to happen on the vast majority of bipods unless they are very designed specifically to counter the torque effect. Loading the bipod does help to counter this however all you are trying to do is push everything together as opposed to muscle it down in place, the really important thing is to be consistent in the way you use the bipod from shot to shot.
