I put my ticket in for variation because I have sold some stuff over the last couple of months. I let them know I had sold the stuff within 7 days but I did not put my ticket in. Any way they rang me up to ask why it had taken so long to claim the slots back the Guy was pleasant enough to talk to no aggro at first he suggested I needed to pay a fee but after some discussion he agreed to check my documentation before he came to a decision.
So five slots to fill o goody.
I want a milling machine first then I will think about what toys to buy. I just love it when a plan comes together. clapclap bangbang

I did mine in the last two weeks, got all I asked for with no fuss but ended up with a new style FAC :(
Lots of space for ammunition purchases etc and no section for permission to buy, just to hold (ammunition).

I was recently told that I have 30 days for a free one for one variation, if I've informed them of a sale within the statutory 7 days. I missed the window by 3 days for my LBP. Did get lots of moderator slots without an issue too.

30 days? Someone is making the rules up as they go along there. I have had empty slots for years!

What I mean is that after I had sold the LBP, I sent in the notification without my FAC, then 33 days later, after I'd sold the other rifles I sent the FAC in for variation.
Meant to enclose payment, but forgot. They rang me and said I needed to pay as it was past the window for slots I had sold.
Had never heard of this rule before that.

There used to be a section in the old guidance to police document that suggested a seven day time limit in which to apply for a free 1-4-1 or you effectively lost the slot. Not every force applied this rule. The new guidance to police document has dropped the 7 day rule but still suggests that spaces should not be left open for extended periods. I have heard that some forces now consider about 3 months to be a reasonable period in which to apply for free 1-4-1 variations upon disposal of firearms though no time limit is actually mentioned in the guidance.
