Hi
really like the look of the marlin 1895 sbl, but yet to handle one, and have been reading about quality issues with the new remlin guns.
just wondered if anyone owns one on here, and what they think of it. how is the quality of the new ones if i were to buy new in the uk.
many thanks
jay

I have one of the new RemLin ones. Put about 40 rounds through it so far on Short Siberia, and absolutely love it. Build quality is OK, but not brilliant. Whoever you get one from make sure you give it a good going over before buying it.

great stuff, thanks for the reply. unfortunately i dont have any marlin dealers near me so will have to get it sent to my rfd. i guess i can request plenty of pics. have shot some marlin 1894 club guns and love them, and they feel very smooth, but keep forgetting to look if they are jm stamped. how does the sbl shoot, any feed problems with that big old cartridge.

I had no feed problems with mine. I bought it new from south Yorkshire shooting supplies and had it shipped to my local RFD. Syss checked it out first and then my RFD did the final checks. I expected it to kick like a mule but the 45-70 makes it more of a shove than a kick. Do you get to the NRA club days? If so drop me a pm, and if I am free I can bring it down for you to see.

You'll soon rack up enough messages to use the pm system. I originally had one on order with marlin rifles and was messed around for about 6 months, before cancelling and going to syss. Took about a year from start to finish to get it so you'll need to be patient. I get to bisley every month or so on the weekend, so just let me know.

Rumour is that Marlin/Remington are going to be dropping all of the Stainless models from their line...
