1235 rounds

It was time for a further look at the bipod design for Christel today, which led to an impromptu count up of the loaded full bore ammunition in the house to make sure the log books were correct. 1235 rounds.

Anyway, it reminded me of an article I read a while ago about an American who as well as holding a significant number of rifle rounds also had a few ammunition cases under his reloading bench that were holding around 100,000 assorted loaded pistol calibre rounds. So excepting .22LR at what point does ammunition holding become excessive? I know we have purchase/hold restrictions but how many members actually get close to their maximum 'hold' figure?

I can't afford to max out my ammo allowances at the moment :( (break out the violins  ) I've come close to my .223 limit, 560/600 once but i soon burned that off

I have a fair few rounds of 7,62x61 milsurp that bumped my figures up, great stuff in my AI but is a pig to use in the .308's we tried as it displays hard bolt lift.

I need to get my head down and build a couple of hundred rounds for both my 7mm and Christels thing, after a while cramming it all into the safes becomes a problem and storing it under the bed is not really an option.

You could say one persons excessive is anothers not enough.

I tend to load to my maximum allowance, which is a modest 150 (each) for 6.5 and 30cal, and then proceed to shoot most (usually all :D ) of it off at a day at the range. This is more than enough for me at the moment, but ammunition amounts is really horses for courses. When I had the Saiga - 400 of 223 was never enough.

Grampian made a mistake one time and granted me permission to hold 150100 rounds of 6.5! Although, very generous of them, it was a tad excessive for a small safe like mine.

I used to own 6 rifles (incl 2 x .22RF), and reloaded for all but the .303 Enfield so had alot of rounds in the safe. I remember when I was trying different loads to getting to the max of 700 .308 rounds. For the .44 Marlin I was only allowed 400 in total anyway so that was fairly easily maxed.

You can't have too much ammunition, not in my book anyway!!!

I'm not going to even think how much ammo I hold..........

I load for multiple calibers and only buy rimfire.
