Front Sight for 308 BRNO

Hi,
Just bought a BRNO 308 from my favourite Dealer and it is screw cut for moderator. I've asked him to shorten the Barrel to 18" and since it still has the rear sight I've asked him to fit a front sight, I'm mainly going to use it with open sights.

He said that since the barrel is tapered the new sight will be higher up and this is causing him a problem.

Anybody know of a suitable sight that will do the job? The rear sight is non adjustable.

Hi Ovenpaa,

Just picked the Gun up today.

The dealer wasn't too keen on fitting a front sight so I'll do something myself.

It wasn't a dear Rifle so I don't want to spend a lot on a fancy new sight, I just want open sights for close range fun with a Dromia Type cast Boolit load. razz

I've a clamp on Muzzle brake that I will drill and tap and install a home made front sight.

Cheers........Jim.

A threaded pin filed to shape and blacked will probably do a cracking job. :good:

Hi Gundoc..

It's a BRNO ZKK 601 308W

Got it for £175.00

Wanted to use it with open sights, considering cost of Rifle, Gunsmith charges for fitting a front sight not worth it.

So! A DIY job. I got a cheap muzzle break for a 10/22 from the States on EBAY, had to enlarge it to fit barrel with a Dremmel.

Drilled and tapped it for a sight made from a cut down screw as Ovenpaa suggested, added a Nylock nut and another screw behind it to provide a base for a sight hood I found, it just pushes on.

To keep it all in place I drilled and tapped two further holes in the side and drilled shallow holes in the barrel, two screws inserted and secured with Loctite, cut off the excess and ground smooth and painted.
