which scope mounts?

I'm currently borrowing the scope mounts on my Remington 700 off a friend. One thing this has taught me is that I don't like vertically split mounts. Scope levelling is an utter pain with them. So I'm looking to buy some rings or a unimount that split horizontally. I like third eye tactical stuff and their unimount looks Fab but its pricey. Any opinions? 30mm mounts and a budget of about £150. Rifle is used for long range target if that makes any difference. Has to accommodate a 56mm lens, my current rings are a medium height.

Accuracy International do a true one piece 18 minute 30,0mm ring set for around GBP135.00

Paul

As per your previous post, AI one piece mount, check out sporting services website, I've got 2 of them on nightforce scopes and they're really good quality and available in high and low and with different cant options bangbang

Matt, I am fairly sure the 30,0mm set is available in 18 minutes only however it would be worth checking.

Nope  I've got 2 sets of 30mm zero cant, one high and one low set, the high set for the 56 objective which would still clear Paul's flat rail even if he wanted the 18moa version and the low set for my 52 objective

It's worth a call to them as they don't show all the options on the website.

I have no trouble removing and replacing these every time I shoot as nothing moves and it's a great way to save a bit of space in the cabinet bangbang

Thanks chaps. I have a 20moa rail installed. This would give me 38moa. Can you have too much elevation built in? Would this effect my ability to shoot at shorter distances?

Thanks for the input Matt. Good to know they offer a zero cant option.

Paul, set your 'scope to the 100 yard zero and then wind it down to the mechanical zero, how many MOA is it?

Yes, but it depends on your scope.

Also worth considering are the Bobro Mounts.http://www.bobroengineering.com/browse/ ... pe-mounts/
