Strasser rifles

#1 Post by meles meles »

Has anyone any experience of these http://www.hms-strasser.at/?l=en ?

A straight pull, interchangeable calibre, take down rifle with quick mount scopes and barrels. They sound impressive.

The STRASSER RS 05 straight-pull offers as factory standard easy calibre changes through barrel replacement via hydraulic barrel clamping. With this novel system (patent pending), the barrel is held in the receiver ring by constant, circumferential hydraulic force.
Unlike other systems using simple clamping bolts, the barrel is held with a constant uniform presure. This is a system that guarantees the same clamping pressure for a perfect return to zero every time - without the use of a torque wrench.

Also in wood too for Dromia

£2.2k plus £511 per barrel! Nice if you've got the cash :-)

The standard calibre version does indeed seem to fire everything we like with the exception of 7.62x39 and x54R and the synthetic stock version would be ideal as an everyday working gun.

You really have to see them to appreciate how ugly they are. If seeking a well engineered and thought-out straight-pull then look at the Merkel.

A mate has a Strasser and loves it but its and ugly beast and the balance with scope feels awful to me. Oh and he went through hell getting it screw cut for a moderator. Cant remember why, but i'll ask him if you're interested.

As they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

I saw a couple on the rack at the local gunshop on Saturday and have to say that to my eye they actually look a lot better in the flesh than on the web. However the price was far too high, but they were the top grade models that only a fool would take stalking.
