Anyone know if these can be bought simply as actions, rather than barrelled actions? We have a project in mind for a 1500 long action.

only ever seen them as barreled actions, although I know a couple of people who have had them rebarrelled, might be worth looking for a cheap old one as a donor

Ive often wondered this as they don't do a long action (6.5x55 swe) with a varmint barrel :(

Just an observation but a complete Howa rifle is rather cheap, I presume the barrelled action is even cheaper. Why not buy the barrelled action and then swap out the barrel for the preferred solution. That way you have a spare barrel that could be sold on or pressed into different roles.

I must admit the 7mm rem mag barrelled action is interesting, could make the basis of a tasty just sub hme rifle!

Or if you're just after the action buy a Weatherby Vanguard II, same rifle but usually sold a bit cheaper than the Howa version :good:

£445 new in 30-06 http://www.guntrader.co.uk/Guns-For-Sal ... 4153602001

Or, Ivythorn Sporting have the Howa Barreled actions listed, http://howa-rifles.co.uk/74-barrelled-actions
