A short barrelled AR15 with the recoil tube should and no butt stock do the trick .

Yes, but you'd have to yank the bolt back every time............

But even in semi it would be useless for anything but want to have. For dynamic shooting anything below 18inch barrel length is already not really recommended for the most part and that short it would nearly be impossible to set it up usefull

I regularly shoot my 15.5" AR out to 600 with a 4x scope and it does the trick.

Having used a full sized StG90 (military version of the Sig 556), I gotta say this just dost cut it for me, either the full size or the commando.

My sig 556 semi auto has a 16" barrel as standard and is a wee tack driver at any range, that's it in the avatar photo. A hefty wee bit of kit compared to a typical AR but it is accurate to 500+

if we are talking precision shooting with a bolt action yes. but if we are talking dynamic shooting like ipsc with a semi no. shorter barrel means shorter gas system and shorter gas system means more recoil more prone to malfunctions and it it gets too short than you cannot reach the required minimum power factor anymore.

for such a purpose below 18inch is not recommendet as 18inch is the shortest barrel you can use the rifle length gas system.

and shorter gas system means more recoil (with a 5.56????) more prone to malfunctions any???? any???? any???? ............
.

Felt recoil is negligible in the SIG, and absolutely never had a malfunction with my Sig, ever ..except maybe this one - but that was a grey matter issue

How's this for trigger control, one of our group..he's a keen 3 gun comp shooter. NOT select fire, semi auto only!

thats because the sig has a short stroke piston system and thats good for reliability but then again piston system meaning movable mass and especially if above the barrel does mean lots and lots of recoil. of course it depends what you think is lots of recoil. however for ipsc purposes an ar15 that is setup good has no felt recoil at all. it is comparable to shooting a low power 22.
