Chaps,I have been offered a Swing Mark1 by a clubmate,it's left handed ( as am I!) in very good condition, and has had some work done on the extractor port to make the bolt easier to cycle, what should I offer him for it? Want it to be a reasonable offer as he's a friend

£10, then give my info as an interested party! JOKE
It will depend on what accessories, barrel life, condition, stock …….ect. Keep in mind there are 4 or 3 variants after the MK1. Are you using it just to plink or really shoot?
I've seen them range from £400 to £1400 in various conditions but these were all MK3's.
I've been after a LH Swing for a bit now with no luck.

Hi Neale,
The major determinant of value will be the quality of the barrel and sights attached to the rifle. Assuming that the furniture and sights are originals, then if the barrel is shot (i.e. has more than ~5000 rounds through it) then you're looking at no more than about £450 at a guess. If the barrel is new then maybe as high as £1000 if it's in really good nick. If the rearsight is newish then add £100. If it's got a spiffy 30mm foresight add another £100 - 200. If the bedding is shot then take off £100.
In all of this the thing to be aware of is that the early Swing rifles are generally pretty unique beasts, with very many minor parts changes made throughout the manufacturing, which makes maintenance a pain. I had two near-identical Swings but moved to a Barnard in 2012 for just this reason.
Good luck!
Gaz

Finally sealed the deal on this, turned out on examination to be a mk4,shot count in the high 100s,barrel in great nick, ladder foresight, and Cobra rear sight, and shoots very well:-)
