.44 AMP
Is anyone here shooting or considering shooting a rifle chambered in .44 AMP?

Ahhh the Auto Mag - I shot one in that calibre many years ago. I just remember the 1m diameter muzzle flash.

Ballistics wise, it offers nothing over the .44 Rem Mag. The Desert Eagle is also testament that a rimless cartridge for a semi auto pistol was really not required. And then today we have lever, bolt and single shot of all varieties of rifles chambered in Rem Mag.....
But, if looking at Auto Mag purely from a "why not?" basis, then it sounds like a splendid idea!!

dromia, are you sure your Wildey wasn't chambered in .45 Win Mag? Never knew of one in AMP....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

And a quick check of a proper book by Mr Hogg shows that the Wildey was indeed manufactured in .44 AMP..... Amongst others!

But to the OP, a rifle in 44 AMP sounds like fun, but seeing as I have dies for 41AE that would be my preference!
