Considering having a rifle deactivated

I have a fairly modern Winchester 94AE in .45 Colt in good condition, but sadly it's got a broken cartridge stop so it only functions as a single shot.

For the past 6 months or so I've been on the look out for one but it's a discontinued part by Winchester and I've also tried many parts suppliers in the US too with no luck.

I've spoken to 2 gunsmiths and an engineer, each said that they could weld on and shape a stop (at a pretty high cost), but whether it'll hold up is another matter.

I was thinking of selling it as is but thought I may be able to get more if it's deactivated?

Also have a regular size lever loop.

The broken piece.

How it should be:

What is the cost of having a firearm deactivated and a certificate issued.
What would you do?

What exactly is broken on it can you post a better picture. Personally I would not deact it I would shoot it single shot. But I understand what you are saying if you try to sell it you are not going to get a great deal of money for it as it is. I don't know how much deacts go for. If it was a welding job I would probably have a go at repairing it. But your problem is if you get it repaired then sell it and it goes wrong after the sale you could end up with a problem. Im not sure really its a tricky one.

I'd keep it, but as I already have a 45 Colt Win 94 Trapper I may be biaised

May be able to get the work done by a mate near me, he's always working on Marlins

IF you decide to sell as is PM me

ETA: or PM me if you want my mate to fettle it...

Thanks I see what your problem is now if it was mine I would weld it up and try to reshape it.

If you can find someone to ship it to you as I would guess they might get twitching shipping outside the US.

http://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/PROD/W94LINK

Or try http://www.poppertsgunparts.com/index.htm

You might have already found these, if so sorry.

Tried Midwest and they're sold out of the .45 one. Don't think I've tried the other company. Will get in touch.
Thanks
