AR15 scopes

Hi All

I’m thinking about swapping out the scope on my AR15 S.P to something that suits my type of shooting. I use the rifle for shooting fig 11’s out to max 500m on a field firing range, the occasional bit of paper punching and I have access to land where I can zero the rifle and shoot vermin with it. It's got a full rail system, IE so it's a flat top.

Currently I have a Ziess conquest 3-9x42 on it using warne QD mounts, it’s got a plain cross hair reticule. I feel that something with Mil-dots or something to help with adjusting for range more accurately that a bit of random hold over might be a good idea.

Having looked about a little, I quite fancy a Vortex 1-4x24 http://www.riflecraft.co.uk/products/vi ... e-103.aspx

It is around my budget but I wondered given my shooting if anyone had any other recommendations on what to look at.

Many thanks in advance

I have one of these, but in MOA. For the money, it's a good scope; my only criticism of it, is the reticule is TINY.

I just swapped this out on my AR for a Leupold Mark AR scope, which is more expensive but a better scope. The PST now sits on my .300 Whisper AR.

Keep you eyes open (no pun intended!) for a used Simmons Whitetail Classic 1.5-5x20, these come up every now and again for £60-£100.

The Philippines manufactured version is excellent, good clear optics and very good at low light.

I've managed to get three of them, one on my Henry 44mag, one on my S&W M&P 1522 and one waiting for a 300aac straight pull.

What sort of reticule does it has Phaedra?

Just the standard Truplex shown here, http://www.tacticalscope.co.uk/simmons- ... 1981-p.asp.

The 1-4 Vortex PST is a great scope, I have one and have had it on a few of my ARs.

Nowadays though I run the 2.5-10 Vortex PST on the .223 AR, practical optic, it's only about £70 more than it's smaller sibling, but for me a far more flexible magnification range for long distance. The reticle is quite fine, which I like and it's also illuminated, some days in winter we need that up here.
This one.

thanks guys, I do like the viper, think I'd try to pick one up second hand.

The graduate reticle looks like it will be more useful than a simple cross hair
