Quick variation turn around by Surrey Police :)

#1 Post by jmc67 »

I know we often complain at how long variations take, but I just got a really quick one back from Surrey Police - adding 1 rifle and 2 moderators, and new ammo allowance for the rifle, and it was back within 10 days of sending it off. I was quoted about 3 weeks, so nice one cheers

i regularly hear about Surrey providing a very fast turn around on grants and variations.

about two years ago a friend had sent in his fac and sgc applications and had them granted in under 3 weeks, then he moved to kent for uni and waited well over a month just for them to check his new safe was appropriate

I sent my fac off yesterday to Norfolk firearms office around midday to add another rifle and ammo, they rang me midday today to ask if I wanted to change my application to a 1 for 1 as I have had a moderator slot On my ticket for 2 years and hadn't used it, I agreed , they are sending my fac back tomorrow with my chq for the variation and I should have it Friday , that's what I call good service, goodjob

A mate of mine has just had a 3 day turn around from GMP! Told him that's not only rare but he must be the luckiest bloke there is who's sent in a variation to GMP. & yes I typed 3 days not 3 weeks...
Also on another note, I've been told to change mine for a variation is a one off/single payment & there will be no charge to change the wife's who has permission to shoot what's on mine. A nice bonus as I'd expected to have to pay £40.

5 days?!!!

My certificate has been with Kent since the 6th of October for a few 1-4-1 variations. If, if I am really lucky, I might, just might have it back in time for the British Shooting Show in Febuary...

And if I do have it back for them, I'll probably send it straight back as I have my renewal in December '16...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

you need to move....

last friday, sold my mateba, did the transfer notification, plus a variation for the 44 rifle back, plus a 38 m/l and 44 m/l pistols. , went over and dropped it off with the cheque, asked if I can hang on to my ticket as i'd need ammo shortly and I know they are a bit behind. he looked at me strangely and said no, he'd need the ticket....

BUT, they are not behind on variations, only grants or renewals, but variations go to top of the queue, turns out he is my actual FEO as well, so asked why i wanted them (his words, not mine). he agreed they would be fine, so told me to go have a coffee and come back. did this, picked up my newly printed ticket, checked it over. I still had a sec1 in the aquire section that should have been added in the bought section, showed him, he said to give him 5 mins....

came back, got a nice fresh fully up to date ticket in around an hour. beat that!!

I'm so going to regret moving to avon & somerset from Herts & Beds! they guys and girls there are phenomenal!!
