The Trafalgar Trade Fair is on at Bisley this weekend.

I've never been, but live close enough that I could pop down for an hour or two.

As I'm not trade, is it worthwhile? It says entry is free to the public, so I imagine there will be stalls to browse and bits and bobs to be purchased?

Thoughts?

Our club are shooting on Saturday at Bisley anyway, so will have a walk around the show need to pick up some bullets/powder etc.

Can be worth a look for reloading stuff/ammo but you always see the same types of rifles from stall to stall, but with very different prices.

I think it's generally the older/antique rifles at this one, we will be there but only Sunday as I have to wander round 2 University open days on Saturday as my youngest will be going next year.

It tends to be very similar to the trade fair at the Phoenix meet in the spring. Possibly a bit smaller and with more older rifles but much the same layout and the same exhibitors.

I'll go along to stock-up on consumables.

Just for posterity and to round out the thread...

I went down on Saturday morning, just to have a look. Smaller than the fair at the Phoenix, but still a good selection of clothing, old rifles and bits & bobs. Many of the same faces as the Phoenix.

Modern stuff was well represented by always busy Suffolk Rifle crew, and the ever pleasant and helpful ACP Shooting.

Hung around for just over an hour which was time enough to pick up what I needed and have a quick scout about everything else.

If I was looking to pick up a SMLE, Mosin, Arisaka or something more exotic it would have been great as there was a vast selection to fondle and compare.

I heard that one dealer there was attempting to sell allegedly unissued Enfield No4s for £1750!!!

That's right, one thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds!

Just a load of old wood tat.

I did get some .22 ammo though.

Did not see that rifle but I did see a 1920 re-worked standard (not a sniper) GEW98 for £2200 and on the same stand a K31 again not a sniper for £1000 although it did look mint.

I did get the bullets and powder I needed.

I think you are correct, but I don't think any sold !

Bargain of the day was 7.62x39 at £21 per 100 and 7.62x54 at £27 so I stocked up

Went down on Friday to stay the week end. Good weather, good light for shooting. Due to a damaged ligament in my left knee, I took only light, gallery rifles. Entered 5 events: one first place, one second, two thirds and a sixth. Not bad for a 73 year old semi-cripple with a streaming cold!
Trade fair was very crowded on the Saturday but, although busy, you could move on the Sunday and I managed to buy everything on my shopping list.
Good vintage and classic guns are getting rare and pricy, but there was a good selection there if you had the brass----if you didn't, there was plenty of junk.
Plastic is rubbish---I don't believe that plastic guns will be seen as desirable or collectable in 100 years time.
