Anyone own a Winchester 1873 repro?

I've got a hankering for an 1873 repro with a 24" barrel and probably fit a tang sight for some plinking. Anyone have one? Any thoughts/opinions/reviews gratefully received. What are the options, I know Uberti is one any others I should be thinking of? I'd like a fairly faithful to the original if possible.
Had a Winchester 94 and Marlin 1894 both were short barrel versions, just fancy a bit of longish range plinking with a rifle and a tang sight with the iconic '73 action!

The Ubertis are very good indeed.

If I was looking for an underlever I would go for a Uberti or a Henry, probably go for the Uberti as I love the '73 and it would be in 44-40. 30 inch octagonal barrel and rear aperture sight.

Phwoarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Does the Uberti 44-40 have to be black powder or is it ok to load smokless?

They are nitro proofed so smokless is fine in the 44-40 even if it is an insult to this fine cartridge.

I wasn't aware you could get a longer barrel version, 30" barrel would be even better. Looks like Uberti is a good choice. None of the Ubertis have tang sights that I've seen and apparently need drilled and tapped, what sort of tang sight would I need to purchase?
Thanks.

Lyman and Pedersoli do them that I know of, shouldn't need drilling they are made to fit the replicas.

I would be aware that what the importers show in their catalogues and the actual stock that they carry are two totally different animals, also even if you order one all that means is that if by chance the one you are looking for comes in the next shipment then you will get it, the importers just get what they are given the US export market has the priority and we just get the left overs.

A&A have a fairly wide selection of Uberti 1873's at the mo, they also offer a few bells and whistles / mods on them.

Although if you are buying one that has been run in / shown by them, just watch for the condition of screws on the gun
