WEEKEND IN FINLAND ANYONE doing a dedicated Mosin Nagant course, the same as Finnish army recruits/Civil Guard soldiers would have been given?

I'm NOT the organiser! Only saw this when browsing the shop website....

Oh - to have a way to attend this....very poor flights from my part of the UK to Finland though & no idea WHERE Loppi is!!

IMTT and Varusteleka have come together once again to bring you something completely different: an old rifles training course. You won't find any M4s or AKs here. This is for proper old kit. IMTT's Monte, along with instructors from IMTT Finland, will help to give you a better understanding of your weapon, the proper historical application, and the skills originally taught by the Finnish Army.

Some of the things to be taught:

The history of the weapon and the “White guard” Finnish history of the rifle.
The rifle's uses
Nomenclature
Complete weapon break down and proper maintenance
Supporting equipment nomenclature
Historically correct zeroing as dictated by the Finnish Army during the time of issuance of the weapon.
Original Finnish Army qualification courses of fire
Original manual of arms & manipulation of the weapon
Use of the sling and its recommended application
Modern Tactical manipulation
Modern rifle qualifications

What you will need:

1 rifle bolt action unmodified “Mosin-Nagant”. Any model is acceptable, both Russian and Finnish. Our goal is to stay as close to the original issue rifle as possible without optics or any special modern equipment (Slings, stripper clips, cleaning kits and gear as issued).
250 rounds of ammo.

You will receive the following:

Handout booklet
Certificate of training
IMTT Patch

When: April 26th & 27th 2016. This is a two day course.

Where: Loppi range facility, we want students ready to go and on sight no later than 0830hrs in their seats in the range house / cabin at Loppi that morning.

There will also be an additional guest: a Finnish historian / expert, lecturing about the rifle and its historical influence, lineage and legacy.

The language of the course is English.

Age limit 18.

Thanks VM Ratty for sharing the info. Looks like an awesome & ideal W-E indeed !! I'd love to take my M39 back to its birth place. A quick Google map suggests Lotti is about 1 hour drive north of Helsinki.

Looks like flights from London Gatwick to Helsinki are around the £120 mark, return...WITH airlines that are used to passengers taking rifles with them too!

This MAY have gone from a "what if" scenario for me, to a looking onto car hire/coaches/hotel options to get to/stay in Loppi for the course.
