club armourer selling ammo

Ok we all know one has to batch test stuff through the proof house in order to sell ammo commercially....
My question is...are there any loopholes for someone specificly designated within a club to sell ammo to members that's been done on a fully electric production press?
Our club used to do such a thing in the pistol days but when the guy died it coincided with the 97 ban and nothing was done since...the electric reloading press has now resurfaced after being wrapped up for 20 years but working fine..
Thoughts please..

Ultimately I suspect that it will come down to the loaders/clubs ability to get liability insurance for the ammunition.
To do so may require proof testing, perhaps packaging testing and some sort of quality assurance system to ensure safety consistency.

Coupled with the above, I'd suspect that to manufacture ammunition in order to sell at the club, he'd also require an RFD.

Thanks both....yes the previous guy was an rfd....and I suspected as much about the paperwork....none the less I shall contact my man at the proof house to confirm...
Shows how far we have come in 20 years!

I could have a pretty good guess at what the man at the proof house will say.
I don't think that things have changed in the last twenty years with regard to reloading ammunition for sale only that most shooters are possibly more aware of the liabilities now and that insurance companies have dramatically inflated insurance premiums , think of Howitzer for an example of that.

Whatever happened to Howitzer? The stuff was everywhere prior to '97, then that was it, he dropped off the scene. There's certainly a market for pistol cal ammo these days. Did he give up after the '97 ban or what?

I still have some Howitzer packaged stuff here, mostly for nostalgic reasons however I did reload some of the .38Spl a while ago.

He gave up when there was a truly
MASSIVE hike in his insurance premiums making the business no longer commercially viable. Such a pity as he was a real nice guy to deal with and he sold good products at a fair price.

As interesting as the press sounds, the concept of making commercial, or even club level, quantities of ammo without a CIP approval for it is a can of worms that could get sticky very quickly...
CIP & RFD minimum
COULD still be a go-er though - but not sure how the costs would run these days with the recent HUGE increases in shipping costs for ammo!
....this press, do tell!!

There would of course be no problem with club members using the reloading press to reload ammunition for their own use using club equipment. The club could even stock reloading components for sale to the club members too.
